Hi, I’m Lisa

Welcome to my portfolio page!

Lisa Görtz

About me

With over two years in the video game industry, I’ve worked at Edurino and Ulisses-Spiele as Unity Developercreating engaging experiences and robust tools. At my last job at Edurino, I focused on educational games for children, building intuitive minigames and Unity Editor tools that enhance productivity.

With a master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (media informatics), I bring a strong foundation in UI/UX to every project, ensuring visually appealing and user-friendly results. During my university years, I explored diverse technologies, creating AR/VR applications, websites, games, and self-modeled 3D assets. One highlight was co-developing ‚App ins Grüne‘, a published open-source learning app about native trees. This hands-on journey has been driven by curiosity and a passion for innovation.

Now, I’m ready for my next adventure—excited to bring my skills and passion to a new team. If you think I am the right fit, just message me, I would be happy! Let’s create something extraordinary together!

The words that best describe me are responsibleindependent, structured, creative and communicative.

I take complete ownership of my responsibilities, prioritizing quality and attention to detail to deliver exceptional results on time. In my job as a programmer, for example, this meant clean, organized, and maintainable code that functions as expected. At the same time, I always make sure that my results are highly user-friendly and visually appealing, regardless of whether the users are my own team members or customers.

For me, it’s very important to not lose track of the planned goals and milestones and to provide continuous feedback on the current status and expected progress.

I am also very committed to researching and implementing best practices and industry standards – in my previous jobs, for example, I wrote guidelines and trained the team using presentations (e.g. on development topics such as coding conventions). I enjoy documenting internal processes and tools, frequently did so to enhance team efficiency and streamline workflows. There is a little process optimizer in me who always strives to improve the things around me :)

Skills

Programming and Other Languages

C#

Advanced experience:
Worked on smaller and larger projects using different programming architectures and libraries. Writing clean, maintainable code is essential for me to collaborate with others, and I am committed to researching and applying best practices and industry standards (e.g. in terms of coding conventions, code reviews etc.).

Java

Mediocre experience:
Worked on university projects using Java, mainly in the context of mobile apps.

HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, XML

Mediocre Experience:
I really like front-end development, but have also gained few back-end experience in university projects (see below).

At work, I also used web technologies for custom editors in Unity projects, which allowed me to design the UI with CSS. For example, I have used flexboxes for the layout of certain windows that contain different tabs or columns/rows with additional elements.

Privately, I maintained my stepfather’s webshop for trial motorbikes and accessories for years (unfortunately no longer). Currently I only take care of this portfolio website, which is created with WordPress ;)

Markdown

Advanced experience: Wrote a lot of technical documentation in Markdown, including elements like tables, images, info boxes and a table of contents with links to the respective sections.

Other

Small experiences with JSON, Bash and Python.

Frameworks

Web Development

Small experience with NodeJS (Server Runtime Environment), Express (Backend), React (Frontend) and MongoDB Atlas.

+ Some WordPress experience ;)

CI/CD

At Edurino, I maintained and improved a GitLab CI/CD pipeline for Google Cloud Platform to automate the building and deployment of our internal documentation and NuGet packages.

Documentation with docfx

At Edurino, I maintained the generation of our internal technical documentation based on docfx.

Game Engines

Unity 3D

Advanced experience:
Both in my work as a Unity developer and at university, I have developed several projects using Unity. From creating the C# scripts to using the built-in tools like Timeline and Animator Controller to create animations and cutscenes, I am very familiar with building applications with Unity and implementing desired features.

I have also created my own tools and extensions for the Unity editor by writing custom editors and property drawers using UI Toolkit, which is inspired by  standard web technologies.

Check out some of my Unity projects below!

Unreal Engine

Mediocre experience:
During my studies I developed two games with Unreal Engine 4, using Blueprints only (no C++)

Development Tools

Code Editors

Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Jetbrains Rider and Android Studio.

Version Control

Git, GitHub, GitLab, Plastic SCM

2D Graphics

Image Editing

Mediocre experience:
Regularly edit images for private use.

For my public Instagram account mamas.natur.garten I often slightly improve the look of the photos or create collages from several images. For my private Instagram I like to edit nature photos from my vacation or some cosplay pictures of me.

Most of the time I use Gimp and/or a smartphone app to edit photos.

Video Editing

Mediocre experience:
I mainly use DaVinci Resolve when I want to create short video clips for personal use, for example to showcase my projects. You can find a few of them on my YouTube channel.

I sometimes also edit videos on my smartphone, using one of the many apps, and publish them on Instagram.

Usually it’s just a matter of cutting the clips, adding some sound or text and rarely adding transitions or special effects.

3D Graphics

Blender

Mediocre experience:
I’ve used Blender for many of my university projects to create 3D models from scratch or make adjustments to existing assets. Although most of the time it was about simpler things, I’m quite familiar with the techniques of 3D modeling and know where to find what in Blender.

Autodesk Maya

Small experience:
My first larger 3D object that I modeled and animated was a steampunk flying machine, created with Maya for a university course. You can check it out below!

Management

Jira, Confluence, Slack, Teams

I’ve worked a lot with these tools for internal management and communication and am always curious about features that increase productivity.

Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban

I’m familiar with agile software development methods and particularly appreciated working with the Scrumban technique during my time at Edurino.

Social Media

Instagram

I’m passionate about taking photos and started my public Instagram account mamas.natur.garten a year ago where I post photos and videos of flowers and insects in the garden as well as my mother’s 12 tortoises. I like to edit the pictures, create collages with them and provide informative texts when I create a post.

With Canva I’m quite familiar but don’t use it for all of my posts.
